Hey! Yes I'm on my vacation now, currently in Split. It's been fun so far... I see you're into sports, me, not so much :) but Ancic is very popular here in Croatia... Anyways, you can easily get around here speaking only english, but if you need directions or something, approach young people, the older ones usually don't speak english very well.
I see I gotta do a little translation here... vodka = votka (it's the same), soda = sok, but as I said, there's no need to torture yourself with croatian heheh. As for beverage and food, while you're here you have to try a drink called "rakija" (pronounced raakeeyah hehehe) and ćevapi, a specialty originaly from bosnia.

Heheh, ok I will try and explain how "živjeli" is pronounced, seeing how essential this word will be while you're staying here. First of all, croatian does not have accent marks, "ž" is a letter in croatian alphabet, we also have some other weird letters such as "č", "ć", "š", "đ"... Anyways... God, how do I explain this... Err, I'll try to write it down :p It sounds something like this: geevyelee... Lol
I mean, you have a croatian friend and you're bothering me with this stuff... Just kidding :) If you need any further information, just ask. And be creative with the questions :) So are you guys landing in Zagreb?

I miss New York all the time. One of the many regrets I have is moving from New York back to Los Angeles. I miss Patsy's Pizza and Other Music and St. Mark's Books and this Japanese Tea Shop in the East Village, I forget the name, but they served the best Green Tea Latte I've ever had, and Frank, and Jones St. Cafe, and all sorts of stuff that I can't think of right now. For some reason I seem to fit in better in NYC, or better yet, there are so many people that I don't need to fit in, while here in Los Angeles, the city I was born and raised, people size you up in an instant, and if you don't fit in, i.e., young, pretty, famous, wearing the latest gaudy, trendy clothes, then, zap, you're invisible, might as well have drifted off into the haze.

I have been to Canada once. Vancouver. Had a nice time. Very pretty in Vancouver. Where do you live? Toronto, Montreal, somewhere else?

Seems we won't run into one another after all, I'll be back in Zagreb by august 11, I have to study for the few exams I have left... :((( So this summer won't be very cheerful for me, and on top of it all I won't get to meet you :p ;) So I answered your question about my occupation besides vacationing, it's not very glamorous you see... :) And about that phrase, I guess you can use it as a line here ;) but people may think you're weird lol
Just kidding, the only phrase you should learn is "živjeli", that's croatian for "cheers" ;) but your croatian friend already told you about that, right?
