Hollyoaks actress Gemma Atkinson adopts abused chimpanzee
Former Hollyoaks actress Gemma Atkinson has adopted a chimpanzee called Bryan after it was rescued from an abusive owner in Mexico.

Bryan, who is five, was rescued from the Mexican beach resort of Cancun last year. He was being trained as a beach photographer's prop, his teeth had been knocked out to stop him biting tourists and he was regularly beaten.

"We have adopted Bryan, who was being kept by a beach photographer. We are delighted to help out. This is a brilliant cause that Jim started and we only hope that other people jump on board and adopt." Source

Atkinson loses accent to crack America

Speaking to the Daily Star, Gemma said: "I am really enjoying getting back into acting and I have been practising my American accent, too, for when I go out to LA for some castings."

The I'm A Celebrity... contestant also revealed she wants to launch a music career.

"As well as acting I have been writing songs for my upcoming album which I will be recording in Nashville," she said. "So all in all, this is a very busy time for me." Source
