Here's some personal history on Ms. Von D...

Born in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, Mexico, Von D moved to the United States when she was four, settling in Colton, California.[1] Her father René von Drachenberg is of German descent and her mother, Sylvia Galeano has Italian roots. Both were born in Argentina[1][2]. She speaks fluent Spanish and English[1]. She has a brother Michael and a sister named Karoline.

Growing up in the Inland Empire, she made her first tattoo in 1996 with a homemade rig at age 14, the skull logo of the punk band Misfits.[3]. In 1998, she began working in her first professional shop, Sin City Tattoo. This was a great period of growth in her work and led to her eventually moving to True Tattoo for a chance to work with Clay Decker and Chris Garver. This afforded her the opportunity to live and work in Hollywood, Los Angeles.[4] While working at True Tattoo, Von D met her ex-husband, Oliver Peck, and occasionally worked at his tattoo shop "Elm Street Tattoo" in Dallas, Texas. Kat Von D tattooed her way onto our television sets via the TLC reality show "Miami Ink," then later in her own spinoff, "LA Ink." She seems to be one to evoke strong emotion: You love her or hate her. Just as many people find her strikingly beautiful as find her overdone and garish. [ADN]

Here's some recent Kat Von D drama...

In February 2008, Von D was the subject of controversy when it was reported that an autographed head shot of herself was given to former co-worker and fellow tattoo artist Chris Garver to pass on to her ex-boss Ami James. The head shot in question was autographed and signed: "Burn in hell Jewbag xoxo Kat Von D". The photo also had a drawing of a burning Star of David and a swastika.[7] Von D denied the accusations and stated through her publicist that:

"The recent accusation of a publicity photo of me with offensive and anti-semitic comments and graphics allegedly written by me is completely false and unfounded, and clearly a forgery. This was already proven many months ago to be 100 percent untrue. I always have been, and will continue to be an advocate for tolerance of all races, religions and ways of life."

Though Garver confirmed that Kat von D herself handed him the autographed head shot, the TLC network stated that a full investigation was conducted and insufficient evidence existed to conclude that Von D authored the text. [Wiki]

NIKKI SIXX Admits He And KAT VON D Are 'Together'

MÖTLEY CRÜE bassist Nikki Sixx has issued the following update:

"The studio has been flowing nicely. We [MÖTLEY CRÜE] were all together again today plotting, planning, designing, listening and the band seems to have the old bite back, but we will let you be the judge of that when it's time. I do know the people around us, the ones we can trust, are feeling the magic from the songs, so maybe it's not only in our heads? Aah ha.

"And yes, Kat [tattoo artist and television personality Kat Von D] and myself are together. Yes, we've been 'just' friends since last summer. She was going through a brutal divorce (as was I) and we were friends. Along the way, she met a great guy (Orbi) and we were friends through that too. They broke up and we were still 'just' friends… I've never had a friend become the girl. Yes, it caught us both by surprise, as I'm sure some of you. It's understandable; on her TV show, she is still in a relationship (welcome to TV… it's not live). Point being, we understand that some of you don't. It's cool… With that being said, we are very very happy together… I hope it shows in our art and music. Nothing is better for artists than complete connection. [Blabber Mouth]
