These were snapped @ Women in Films 2008 Crystal and Lucy Awards

There's a lot of hype behind this flick---mainly because it's a Frank Miller project. Whatever the case, with these types of films, there's no middle ground with regards to success. So sadly, "The Spirit" will either madly rake it in or suck major ass @ the box-office. The film will be released on December 25, 2008.

Here's more info on Eva Mendes's character, Sand Saref:

Sand Saref is a fictional character from the comic book The Spirit, by writer-artist Will Eisner. She first appeared in The Spirit in January 8, 1950 before becoming a more prominent character in later stories. Sand Seref is shown as having known Denny Colt as a child as well as knowing that he is now The Spirit.[citation needed] Usually ends up on the opposite side of the law from The Spirit, she works in espionage. Eva Mendes Ready to Go Bad?

The actress is in talks to reunite with her Ghost Rider partner Nicolas Cage for Werner Herzog's update of Abel Ferrara's 1992 pulp classic, The Bad Lieutenant, Variety reports.

Little is known about the 34-year-old beauty's role, but it should be a far cry from her and Cage's family-friendly comic-book collaboration. If this Lieutenant is anything like its predecessor, expect plenty of skin, not to mention a heaping helping of profanity. E! Online

Mendes Researching Role In Rehab?

Eva Mendes may have checked herself into rehab in January to prepare for a new movie, in which she plays a Spanish drug lord, reports Star magazine.

The 30-year-old actress entered Utah's Cirque Lodge to "proactively" attend "to some personal issues," her representative explained at the time.

The move shocked Hollywood, until Mendes landed a role alongside Josh Hartnett and Sir Ben Kingsley in "Queen of the South," which follows her character, Teresa Mendoza, as she flees Mexico for Spain when her drug-runner boyfriend is murdered. SF Gate
