Ulster’s Gemma fails to become UK’s hottest MP

Northern Ireland beauty Gemma Garrett failed in her quest to become Britain's hottest MP in the Crewe and Nantwich by-election yesterday.

Garrett, standing for the Beauties for Britain party, was unable to lure voters managing only 113 votes.

Gordon Brown suffered a humiliating rebuff as the Tories swept to victory in the previously safe Labour seat.

The Conservative, Edward Timpson, demolished a 7,078 Labour majority to capture the Cheshire constituency by 7,860 votes. He won the seat with 20,539 votes, comfortably ahead of Labour’s Tamsin Dunwoody on 12,679 votes. The Liberal Democrat’s Elizabeth Shenton trailed third with 6,040. [Belfast Telegraph]

Beauty Queen Politician Gemma Garret: "I'll Make Westminster Sexy"

Gemma Garrett will be standing as a Beauties for Britain candidate in the Crewe and Nantwich by-election on May 22, 2008. She'll be replacing another female MP, Gwyneth Dunwoody, who recently passed away.

Here are some recent comments by Gemma:

"At the moment, much of our political life looks dowdy and down-trodden, " she said.

"Women are reluctant to put a proper emphasis on beauty and I want to change that.

"I want Westminster to be home to as many glamorous and confident women as say, Rome or Paris. Or even Brussels or Berlin.

"And I want that new emphasis on beauty to extend into every aspect of British life.

"If women should look and feel beautiful it makes Britian a happier place."

Gemma said she also intended to fire up people's interests in politics again and to "end the tide of sleaze".

"I want to see politics rapidly becoming sexy instead of sleazy," she said. [Belfast Telegraph]

Indiana remains too close to call. But what is clear is that we did much better than all the pundits predicted, despite Republicans changing parties to support Senator Clinton, believing she would be easier for Senator McCain to defeat.

As of Tuesday morning, we needed just 273 delegates to clinch the nomination. When the votes are fully counted Wednesday morning, we will have gained more than a third of them in a single day.

I'd vote for Obama if I was a US citizen, but honestly I don't think he will win, you know why'???Because he IS SMART!!
