Just look at The Love Guru, an uneven and hysterically bizarre comedy about an ambitious, potty-mouthed mystic who helps a Canadian hockey star get his wife and his groove back. Directed by newcomer Marco Schnabel (from a screenplay by Myers and Graham Gordy, with inspiration from Deepak Chopra), the film reminded me of lesser Peter Sellers vehicles (The Fiendish Plot of Dr. Fu Manchu) in which a genius for meticulous comic masquerade crashes on a weakness for overstatement. The obvious can be amusing once or twice, but by the fourth or eighth go, it's time to bring on the draconian edits. Source

"I'm telling you," says Emmanuelle Chriqui, leaning forward over the table at Gemma, a rustic Italian eatery. "I'm convinced that I was an Indian princess in a past life. Everybody thinks that I'm Indian."

Actually, she's French-Moroccan-Jewish, and her multiethnic look has cost the Canadian-born actress some roles. "There have been times when I've been completely passionate about something and got beat out by the blonde," says Chriqui, 31. "And that hurts. Girls Aloud star Nadine Coyle is set to open a chain of candle shops in the US.

The singer, 22, who currently resides in Los Angeles, already has a Mexican restaurant and a string of properties to her name, but now wants to expand the business into a chain of shops Stateside.

She says: "I'm so excited about it. LA's the perfect place for it too as people love to get pampered. I've already got my brother-in-law to create the decor. He's an artist and does amazing canvasses, so it will be a proper family business - and really personal. Source

The only (somewhat) saving grace is the casting of two highly appealing actors in the leads -- ''McDreamy'' himself, Patrick Dempsey of ''Grey's Anatomy'' fame, and the attractive and thoroughly genuine Michelle Monaghan. Though forced to make do with one predictable scene after another, these two perform with charm -- and do their darnedest to sparkle plenty on the big screen. It's just a shame they were not given better material.

Dempsey and Monaghan -- and the rest of the cast, for that matter -- give it their all, but it just isn't enough to lift this formulaic nonsense out of the stew of mediocrity in which it merely simmers from start to finish. Source

Cyrus will not be attending Friday's red carpet event at the resort as planned, Walt Disney World spokesman Gary Buchanan said Thursday. It would have been her first public event since Vanity Fair published photos this week that have thrown her status as a role model for young girls into question.

For weeks she'd been scheduled to appear at the media party, along with dozens of other Disney Channel stars in town to film the "Disney Channel Games," a charity competition. Buchanan did not elaborate on why Cyrus is no longer expected. Associated Press
