Miss Universe 2008 Dayana Mendoza Joins the Fight Against AIDS by Getting Tested for HIV

"As Miss Universe 2008, I support knowing your HIV status and will continue working on increasing HIV/AIDS awareness by focusing on women's health and reproductive rights. As a 22 year old woman, I am particularly invested in supporting young women and educating them about the growing threat of the AIDS epidemic," stated Miss Universe 2008, Dayana Mendoza. "By getting tested I hope to encourage Latinos all over the country, to know their status. Sorry the quality kinda sucks. But anyways, this is the supposedly big deal photo scandal??? I mean, if she did some Bang Bus or Penthouse-style photospread then maybe we got issues. This, however, whoever made it a big deal... really, no problems in my opinion.

Miss Universe Avoids Plastic Surgery Question

In regards to plastic surgery, which is very frequent in Venezuela, she said that it is a personal decision of each person, and that anyone who is dissatisfied about something about them has to do.

Miss Universe to keep crown despite photos

“Dayana Mendoza is not in jeopardy of losing the title of Miss Universe,” Paula M. Shugart, President of the Miss Universe organization told Access Hollywood in an exclusive statement.

“We embrace and respect her success as a model and the artistic beauty captured in these photographs,” the statement concluded.
