Tom Hanks is helping to lead a last-minute drive to avert a strike by Hollywood actors that could cripple the entertainment industry for the second time in less than a year.

The two-time Oscar winner is urging support for a new contract reached between Hollywood studios and the smaller of the industry's two major actors unions that the larger more militant union, the Screen Actors Guild, is vehemently opposing. [Telegraph]
