Even with the falls, Sasha's skate was a beautiful thing. She had the most expressive, well choreographed and simply gorgeous routine. She did great in keeping it together

I'm glad Sasha didn't get the gold ...girl's WAY too full of herself and is a limelight whore.
Reply to this Comment
Yeah... right, a limelight whore who avoided the press the entire time she was in torino and avoided the last media frenzied practice to reflect by hereself

I don't think Sasha is a lime light whore...
But she is extremely full of herself and disrespectful of other skaters. Not too mention a master choke artist.
I've seen interviews of her where pretty much the theme of what she says is..
"I only care about me, and my performance"
She is not gracious at all -her whole career there's been complaints about her "accidentally bumping" into other skaters during warm ups.
I'm glad she lost.

It was just so obvious during her short program ...afterwards she did not want to leave the ice, just basking in her short-lived (ha) glory. Sorry, she simply rubs me the wrong way ...
Word in the community is that she's not at all gracious or encouraging to those up-and-comers. You can definitely strike a middle ground between focusing on your own skating and still being a kind and giving person. Michelle Kwon did it, Kristy Y did it ...

Is she a bitch? Well, who cares!!! She's a fantastic skater, with a great expressive interpretation and she really gives emotions....I think she's amazing! I also liked the Chinese girl, she did a perfect performance with a lot of elegance and she totally deserves gold. The Russian one, yeah she was really good but she didn't have me feeling emotions...So I think the podium is fair.

Lilah, "I also liked the Chinese girl, she did a perfect performance....."
just to clarify, she's Japanese...I know all us asians look a like but i wanted to keep us on the same page here...
but agreed...obviously from my bias commentary i still think Sasha is great.

AnnClaire -- it goes without saying that she gets major snaps for being talented enough to even make it to the Olympics. I don't know about the rest of you, but I'm on my couch ...snacking. But you know that when a medal is in sight, it's the GOLD that you want. Why do you think athletes torture themselves year after year to retry (yet again) for the gold? You think all that hard work is to come in second? No, GOLD brings the recognition, and more importantly it brings the big post-career bucks/speaking engagements/clothing line/book. Years (heck, months) from now, no one will remember who came in second or third.
So relax, we get that you like the girl ...hey, send some lesbian fantasies if it'll make you feel better ...bastardly ...

Ooops sorry, I apologize!!! Anyway she was damn good!!!

sasha's so pretty with her delicate ivory skin...i also liked her costumes and programs the best- if she had'nt fallen ,she would have definitely won gold.
i don't think she's full of herself, she comes across as a normal 21(?) yr old and has a nice confident- but -not- cocky personality.

Notice the Kabbalah string in pic 3? That shit don't work!

no fair, not fair!!!!!!!!!!where were the jundges mind? we, american should have got all three medals. were they crazy last night.
Reply to this Comment
Sasha Cohen should have got gold, not just silver. She is ripped off! As an american, I feel being ripped off too.

Good job, Sasha. You fell but still got silver. Good for you. Yes, like nfelt mentioned, you should have got a gold. Next time, beat Chinese, like you beat Michelle Kwan. It was good that she could not be Olympic this year. It was also bad that she wasn't there, otherwise, let us to see you to beat her.

Okay, Sasha Cohen annoys me. She seems like a smug little twat. I think Arakawa was the best of the night but I don't think Cohen deserved a medal. Who falls on their ass TWICE during the long program and still medals? There were other skaters further down the list who didn't have such a great short program but who were MUCH better than Cohen in their long program. Slutskaya deserved silver and just about anyone else deserved bronze before that little snot-nose Cohen.

RE: Karen "Sasha deserved better just a silver medal even she fell twice. So what? She is American. Americans are the greatest in the world. HORRAY!!!!"
(rolling eyes!)

Considering that Sasha only jumps withour falling about 50% of the time i didnt even expect that she'll get second place. She's good with all the artistic stuff (she does all the bending and bendy tricks great) but her technical stuff are realy lacking...
This olympics was full of surprises. A japanese skater in first place....not a russian for once...omg what shock....

You americans are way to cocky when it comes to medals, Im glad she fell over twice, showed that u can crumble under pressure. Im glad the jap/chinese chick came 1st, she deserved it, her routine was flawless.......

Amen, sister!! Pride & patriotism are one thing. Arrogance is another. If anyone deserves to be arrogant, it's Germany :)
Dumb-assed comments such as those posted on this site perpetuate the negative, "manifest destiny", self-assumed superiority which the rest of the World hates. How about .... stepping outside of the `merican bubble?
Americans are great people! I am proud to acknowledge that some of my best friends & business associates are American. Most of these friends/colleagues hold the same oppinion about those select individuals whom make such arrogrant comments. "Shut the fuck-up, and join the rest of the World! You make us all look bad, and self-centred!"
How about this? "Bravo to all of the women whom kicked-ass, internationally, during these Games!" The skaters (speed & figure), hockey players, curling, skiers. Hello! We are awesome, all of us INTERNATIONAL women!

eh, cohen wears the kaballah string cause shes (ukranian) jewish ("cohen"=jewish name) and therefore has more reason to wear it than say,.....madonna.
in any case i like sasha, yea, she seems a bit standoffish and not that outgoing, but then again, maybe shes totally different when you actually know her.... so im witholding judgement about that until i meet her...........whenever the hell that will be......

I hope she doesn't appear on Amazing Race. I hate that snooty little bitch. It will definitely spoil my Amazing Race viewing pleasure. She's a little witch. I'm glad she fell. She totally doesn't deserve a medal. I hope her endorsement pulls out and leave her peniless.

Jimbo -- at least with a name like "Cohen"...the red string might be more than something Britney-Trendy...

compare to sasha cohen, emily hughes is nothing. she can't jump well, can't spin well, she went to torino just lucky for michelle could not go, but emily's skating skill was far behind away from sasha cohen. sasha, you are the best, we americans support you no matter other idiots say about you. next month go and get the world championship back home. can emily get it? i wonder!!!
btw, russian coaches help united states, no way, they came just for the money, not for "help".

It's pretty cool that despite her falling, she persevered and gutted it out for the silver. I'm glad that SLUT-skaya didn't win it as a result.

Whoa, everyone slow down and smell the sarcasm before you get all bent out of shape about the "Americans are the best in the world" comments. Yeesh.

Ya, I don't think I saw one truly-truly hot athelete this year @ the olympics (sasha cohen is cute in a harmless, 8-year old kid kind of way)
it's all about the summer olympics, baby.

All amreican wins are the result of russian trainers' job.
Maybe Sasha should have fall down three times to get gold?
Americans are NOT the best, believe me.

Re: "I’d just like to know how they get the pantyhose over the boots"
hey red, you put them on before you put your skates on - they have holes in the bottoms of the feet. then after you have laced up your skates you pull them over and secure them in the gap between the boot and the blade, with tiny hooks.

I was so upset when she fell. I can not believe after TWO CRUSHING mistakes that she was even able to pull off the rest of her program with the degree of perfection that she did. Had it been me I would have started crying and botched everything else in the program. Its because she had the will of iron to keep going that she was able to win the silver. I thought for sure she wouldn't get above bronze even with a miricle... im so glad she was able to keep going because it ended up actually being better technically than other peoples programs still.... thats how good she was. She's also a class act. She did everything she could to keep her emotions in check and I was so surprised... I would have been bawling as soon as I came off the ice. She's amazing. :-)

Uh..... attention everyone... winning the silver metal doesn't = losing... it = winning. When did getting a silver or bronze equal losing? Thats the kind of attitude that brings about ungrateful atheletes.
Reply to this Comment
Sasha admitted on TV she is an "attention whore" not in those words, but admitted she wants to be the center of attention on and off the ice and would like to have the same kind of attention that was given to Michelle Kwan. She does seem to be pretty full of herself and the fact that she wears one of those stupid kaballah bracelets is really annoying too. I was glad that Japan won, but felt bad when the Russian girl was crying during the medal ceremony! The girl from Japan deserved it-her performance was really beautiful to watch...

How cheap of the Olympic to give out CDR's as a prize. That sucks!!! I guess I can say that I won the silver at the Olympics. I got a spindle of Verbatim's sitting right here next to my pc.
