Britney Spears Comes Up Huge @ 2008 MTV VMAs!

BUT, something just wasn't the same. She was simply too calm for comfort---almost as if she popped one too many pills before going in front of the cameras.
I don't know about you guys, but the opening skit w/ Fat Jonah Hill sucked ass. I can't believe that's the best all those pimped-out writers could do. There must have been something in her contract with MTV that forced Britney to read the teleprompter like a third grader. Even when she went up on stage to receive her award, she spoke in really short & clear sentences and busted out of there w/out making a scene. At times, the crowd was silent, anxiously awaiting for Britney's dress to fall off her bod or for Britney to faint due to a sudden anxiety attack, but once again, NOTHING happened. It was kinda boring to watch, to say the least.
Sadly, I think we witnessed a turning point in Brit's career and lucky for her, she just might live long enough to see 2009 (earlier this year, as Britney was going crazy, we predicted a Thanksgiving funeral).

Sierra, it's a trickle-down effect. Madonna was the first media-whore in the industry. She never did anything for herself save through sexual favors or tweaking weak men in the recording and radio industry which got her music completed. Her notoriety and buzz making (to the public) was being outrageous and throwing sex in the face of the press. Men (albeit stupid men )got her were she is. Otherwise she (according to Rolling Stone in 1985) is a talentless hack who wore out pairs of knee-pads to get her music played. If it wasn't for her blowjobs, she'd be nothing.

Britney looked really good last night and I'm glad to see her being more balanced again. Her pop tracks have always been and always will be among my favorite guilty pleasures, and the girl could always dance so I have to give her props for that too.
On a side note, Britney represents a trend I've been seeing a lot of these days on the streets of downtown Toronto - The White Girl With Booty trend. Must be something in the meat.

This was soooo staged. I wonder how much Jive Records paid MTV to give her all those awards. They didn't give her awards when she "deserved" them, back when she was outselling everybody and now that her last record was outsold by the Eagles, in it's first week, now's the time to give her awards?

This was essentially her people and MTV getting together to try to rehabilitate her.
There's one thing that should be made clear. She's not Madonna, nor will she ever be Madonna. There's been plenty of cum-receptacles in pop-music history. Madonna's not where she is because of that. She's where she is because she knows which producers and songwriters to put on her records and she's always been smart enough to know what trends were in and which ones were out before they got too mainstream.
That's something Britney, Christina, Pink, Jessica Simpson, and all the rest of those hoes will never be, which is why none of them will ever be 30 years in the game and still one of the biggest stars in music with record-selling power.
