Dee, I have no problem whatsoever with my appearance. My tearing down Mariah has nothing to do with an insecurity issue. My problem with her is that she is FAKE and that she has gained alot of weight and drew on a FAKE 6 pack so she could TRY and look fit. Another wonderful quality Mariah has is that has is the fact that she pulls these publicity stunts with homeless people and she also made an appearance at a soup kitchen on Thanksgiving to "HELP" the less fortunate but didn't so much as get her hands dirty. Her only help was the fact that she was being photographed so she was portrayed as doing something good but didn't have enough scruples to give the less fortunate so much as a handshake or a dollar. Now Dee, you tell me what is so great about her that you would defend her like she is something wonderful when in fact she is a fat selfish bitch that shouldn't be wearing clothes from the teen section but should rather shopping from a Lane Bryant catalogue. Dee, If she is comfortable in her own skin then why did she draw her fake abs on. I wasn't there but some one I know was and said it didn't look terrible but it did look fake. I used to be a Mariah Carey fan but after I saw her scam all the money she could from her marriage I lost a little bit of respect but after the whole homeless person pictures deal I wanted to puke. Um, Just doing some browsing and came across this site. Just wanted to let you guys know that you're funny but a little strange. Hello everyone. I have never posted on this website or any other 'celeb gossip' site before, but for once I felt compelled to, if only to make myself feel better after reading all of these posts. I have been a Mariah Carey fan since I was 10 and her first album came out. But not a rabid or obssessed fan. Just a fan. While I am not fond of her recent diva-like behavior and questionable fashion choices, I do believe she is talented. She is the most successful female solo artist in history. I don't think you can argue with that.
As for calling her fat, I'd say you people have a strange idea of fat. Especially for people from a country where the majority of the adult population is overweight. In an age where nearly everyone in the Western world has an issue with food (whether it be eating too much or too little), constantly picking on celebrities for being 'too fat' or 'too thin' only contributes to this mass hysteria and obssession with body image.
Finally, I think that this Tammy person is one of the most sanctimonious and self-righteous posters I have ever read on a blog. I'm glad she feels so happy with herself and her life, but is it really necessary to go on a website like this and criticise everyone and everything on it? Tammy, are you really that content with yourself? Ultimately, we are all human and all deeply flawed. There is nothing to be gained from constantly trying to bring each other down.

Well said Liliana, though I think you've missed Tammy's point. Like most of us, this is just an outlet to vent and pass the time at work. I don't think any true offense is intended. It's just that certain individuals, such as Kara, get so worked up about such nonsense and she just plays into it for the sake of entertainment.

Harvey, I'm glad to explain. It means that even though her voice has the full range possible, more so than most female singers, all her crappy songs sounds alike, because she only actually uses small bits of her range. I shouldn't have called them "one-note", that was more of a metaphore. What I meant is, what's the use for her vaunted range, when she screeches the same thing every time? Maybe that's the fault of her producers, but she should know better.

And you're right in 150, too. It's all fun and games, and some people get too excited. Like I was saying further up there, none of you poisoned my dog, so why get any real feelings about any of this? Yeah, insults are exchanged, but who really cares? It would be the first time I'd get overwhelmed about what complete strangers think about me.

As for the painted abs, that photo could be a total fake. But as someone who has been doing computer graphics and illustration for a living for many years, I can tell you that if the photo's real, that's definitely painted on. And yeah, I don't like bodybuilder chicks either. That's disgusting. On the other hand, Jessica Biel in that piece of shit movie "Stealth", there's a fine example of the human perfection achievable through fanatical gym attendance and careful eating. Makes me want to write a Haiku just thinking about it (no, that's not a euphemism although... well, never mind).

Hey Some Dude...LA from Junk Feud and I talk occasionally via e-mail and I had made a comment about Mariah's drawn on abs. LA informed me that she was there and yes that is what her belly looked like. The pics are not fake! LA is a great person so I feel compelled to say that she was NOT BASHING MARIAH at all. She just said that her tummy did look like that and she could not confirm or deny that they were drawn on or not. I reitterate...LA was NOT BASHING MARIAH!!!!!!!!!!

Well, if that's what she really looked like, that's definitely fake. Now as someone pointed out on another blog, they could be a result of carefully arranged tanning. I'm not sure if anyone would consider that more "real". I still haven't seen a high-resolution version of that photo. There probably isn't one. Still, even on the small one, just look at the side of her stomach. See those rolls of fat? I don't say that to be judgemental, merely observant of the obvious.

Rock-hard abs are not compatible with multiple rolls of fat on the side of your stomach. It just doesn't work that way.

Other than that, they're just too rectangular. See how each is just a bit too square? That's not very realistic. And they're a bit too narrow compared to the whole torso. Plus, real abs like that have deeper creases between them. Those just have the appearance of creases between them. Also, real abs like that have pretty big creases on each outside side. Totally missing here. Finally, real abs aren't perfectly symmetrical (look at the perfect cross between her "abs"), like a carton of eggs. There's usually at least a little stagger between them. Meaning, one row is just a little higher than the other.

As you all know I don't like Mariah at all but I have to agree with Harvey. It looks like someone photoshopped the fat rolls. I still think she has gained some weight though. Look at the top picture of this blog. Her face looks alot more plump to say the least.

Let me just say first that this site is entertaining. I know it's designed specifically for people to state their opinions and so forth, but some of the things sad are just flat out ridiculous. Let's keep it real people... Mariah bottom line has one of the best voices in the industry period. The woman is amazingly gifted. Her clothing choices seem to come up quite a bit, which even she herself pokes fun at her attire from time to time. It's all in the image, she's playing "dress up". Who cares what she wears?? She's famous for her talent not her clothing. I don't see where there is any real evidence proving that she "slept her way to the top" as far as I'm concerned she got there by TALENT, which is something that is lacking these days (i.e. Hillary Duff, Lindsey Lohan, etc).

As far as her weight is concerned, the things said are some of the most superficial comments I have ever read. It's only natural to gain weight as you get older, I don't see what the big deal is. She's a beautiful woman no matter what her weight. No one said anything when Aretha started putting on the pounds. And poor Whitney lost weight and got insulted for that as well. There's no pleasing the public. As long as Mariah is making excellent music, the rest doesn't matter.

As far as her charity work, I think some research should be done. She's helped out numerous charities, most of which never get talked about because Mariah doesn't feel it's necessary to. She does in fact help her sister out, several sources close to Mariah in interviews and documentaries state that Mariah gives thousands of dollars to both her sister and her brother. Mariah worked hard for what she's achieved and she's been through the dirt and in my opinion she's earned every bit of success that she has.

So what if she painted on some abs? Maybe she felt that it was necessary because people were calling her a cow, maybe she didn't have enough time to get it together for that performance, maybe she was on her period was bloated and feeling insecure. Who cares? It's not like she does it for every performance, it was one time! People make mistakes and let's face it not everyone is going to be pleased. The only point I'm trying to make is that Mariah is the voice of our generation, she is a living legend, history in the making... her talent is uncomprable and undeniable. No one can argue with that.

Here's the deal on Mariah, from top to bottom (pun intended). She's become the star she is because she has an incredible voice - although being married to Sony Music CEO Tommy Mottola couldn't hurt either, could it? By using that voice, she gained popularity and (for some reason, seems to) focus more on being popular than being a good singer. And what does every average singer with a better-than-average body do to gain more popularity?

Show it off! Think of all the tawdry hotties on your music channels, then think of how many of them can actually sing or/and write a song; the numbers aren't even, are they? I don't need to name names, just check out some of the links up top, we all know who they are.

Two things about the music industry:

1. Selling records means having popular videos and good promotion
2. T&A is very popular and is good for promotion (at least in some areas of North America)
