In January 2008, Fanning began filming the movie adaptation of The Secret Life of Bees, a novel by Sue Monk Kidd.[23] Set in South Carolina in 1964, the story centers on Lily Owens (Fanning), who escapes her lonely life and troubled relationship with her father by running away with her caregiver and only friend (played by Jennifer Hudson) to a South Carolina town where they are taken in by an eccentric trio of beekeeping sisters (played by Queen Latifah, Sophie Okonedo and Alicia Keys). The Happiest Place on Earth got a whole lot happier Sunday night, as Miley Cyrus celebrated her Sweet 16 at Disneyland with several celebs, friends and about 5,000 fans who paid $250 a pop to be there.

A source tells E! News that the guest of honor, who glowed in a shiny silver and gold dress along with a pair of emerald-colored high heels, "was all smiles while signing autographs and taking pictures with fans. All of her friends and family were there, so she was really excited." Source

Gomez next stars in Disney Channel original movie "Princess Protection Program," followed by "Another Cinderella Story" for Warner. "It's basically our updated version of the Cinderella story," she says, "so I drop an MP3 player instead of a glass slipper and he's got to find me through music."

Now one of CAA's youngest clients, Gomez "always wanted to act, since I was 6," she says. "I was an only child, and my parents were very supportive, even though they thought it was maybe just a phase." Driven and dedicated, Gomez even spent her ninth birthday at an open casting call for a role in the TV series "Barney & Friends" (she won the part), going on to work in "Spy Kids 3-D" in 2003.
