It would be "ok" if Moe and Jackson actually mocked other races, but the only people they seem to mock are Asians. Moe and Jackson may point out that it's ok to do so because they are Asian, or at least Jackson is. However, there is a fine line between self-deprecation and blatant hatred of your race, and you've crossed the line. When people of other races read your Asian mocking entries, and agree, it's not self-deprecation, it's racism and you're perpetuating it.

Obviously the comments stereotype asians, and obviously that's gonna be offensive to some people of asian descent. It doesn't neccessarily make them unfunny, and it doesn't neccessarily make them wrong. Most jokes are made at the expense of some one or some group or other, but that doesn't make them evil in of itself. What matters is the intention of the person making the joke, and the interpretation of the humor by the person hearing it, right?

I can't imagine the comments were meant seriously, since the posters are apparently asian-american as well. And plenty of people, including many of asian background, seem to think they're funny. At the same time, Starrica and Kayla and anyone else of Asian descent have the right to an opinion and the right to find them offensive, and they certainly have an argument. A suggestion was made to switch the comments to stereotypes of other minorities so that'd we'd all get with the program. It seems like a bit of a false analogy. the fact is that pretty much anyone in America who's not a white, mid-to-upper class Protestant can make a case for racism or discrimination, either historical or ongoing....to some degree or other. Some groups can make a much stronger case than others. I'm sure you're right; white people can't understand what its like to be of asian background. But i'm equally sure that black americans (especially ones of Sudanese background, christ) could look at Asian-Americans, see that they have the highest household income and education attainment levels of ANY ethnic group in this country (including white folk), and make a case that maybe all minority suffering isn't equal, and that jokes about asian accents aren't the same thing as jokes about slavery, or ghettos, or genocide in Darfur. They might even think that your own comments were a bit insensitive or even racist.

That being said, if you actually gave a shit about effecting change, you probably wouldnt be wasting your time changing minds and getting all pissy on TheBastardly. You'd probably be outside.

I don't know.. I don't personally take offence because I am not Asian, but it's blatantly obvious that it's offensive and some people are going to be rubbed the wrong way by the captions. Especially because maily one race is being targetted. White people are uninteresting to bully racially, and those of African decent are not fair game, because of history.
