Charlize's biological father was an abusive alcoholic and her mother shot him purely in self defense when Charlize was a child. She was never charged with any crime.
I think Charlize is really beautiful, a top notch actress, and I have loved her since 2 Days in the Valley.

At the age of thirteen, Theron was sent to boarding school and began her studies at the National School Of The Arts in Johannesburg. (In Johannesburg only those with major cash can afford these schools)
At the age of sixteen, Theron traveled to Milan, Italy, on a one-year modeling contract, after winning a local competition. She went to New York with Pauline's Model Management.
After a failed attempt at ballet (she injured her knee)
Theron flew to Los Angeles on a one-way ticket her mother bought her.[3] During her early months there, she went to a bank to cash a check her mother had sent her to help with the rent. When the teller refused to cash it, Theron immediately started into a shouting match with her. Afterwards, a talent agent in line behind her handed her his business card and subsequently introduced her to some casting agents and also an acting school.

Her ride has been her looks, period. Her first scripts were even based on it. So when she sez she has had a blessed life; look in the mirror honey. If ya didn't look like that you'd wouldn't have left SA. The family had the money, affluent contacts, and she had the looks which = success.
