Gemma Garrett will be standing as a Beauties for Britain candidate in the Crewe and Nantwich by-election on May 22, 2008. She'll be replacing another female MP, Gwyneth Dunwoody, who recently passed away.

"At the moment, much of our political life looks dowdy and down-trodden, " she said.

"Women are reluctant to put a proper emphasis on beauty and I want to change that.

"I want Westminster to be home to as many glamorous and confident women as say, Rome or Paris. Or even Brussels or Berlin.

"And I want that new emphasis on beauty to extend into every aspect of British life.

"If women should look and feel beautiful it makes Britian a happier place."

Gemma said she also intended to fire up people's interests in politics again and to "end the tide of sleaze".
