#2 - you've got to admit the chick is hot. I forget what stupid movie it was, but the flick where she's a rich white kid trying to fit in with the homies from the barrio ? You've got to be kidding me. She spent half the movie with her tits out and I'm pretty sure they didn't photoshop every frame and she was SMOKING hot. Loved the screaming trees back in the day but cornell has the better range. In my opinion, nothing could beat cobain as far as pure raw emotion. That screaming pained wail live was just... wow.

I meant emotion as per its normal definition, i.e, you can really hear the emotion in his voice, not "emo" as we know it today as a genre. I should have been more clear. When I think of the birth of emo, I think more Rites of Spring or Moss Icon (awesome band if you haven't heard them) - early DC emotional hardcore (emocore) punk bands. And yeah it's a long stretch and a sad bastardization in what become today. Like Pete Wentz, dumb Fucker that he is. If you asked him if he liked Fugazi, he'd probably tell you he hadn't tried that restaurant yet and isn't really a fan of Italian food.
I'll have to check out SDRE more, have listened to a bit but not a whole lot.

u know whats a great early emo sound album? Copacetic by Velocity Girl, Pretty Sister and Crazy Town are excellent.

but the people in that band have some other cool projects.
VG is from DC tho so you prolly know them.
even there cross from Emo to popish stuff is great. Sarah Shannon does like jazz type stuff now, and her voice is amazing.

oh i miss emo when it wasnt about the "look" or bullshit like cutting yourself or bitching and crying and whining about everything in your life...when it was just about writing a song about how you felt and letting it out, and doing it with every part of your being.
