With the two best gymnasts in the world and the Olympic gold medal within their grasp, the Americans bumbled and fumbled it away Wednesday at the Beijing Games. A fall off the beam here, a splat on floor there and two steps out of bounds was more than enough to cost a team a victory, no matter how many world titles it had.
The Americans performed ahead of the Chinese in the final rotation, the floor exercise. After team captain Alicia Sacramone landed her second pass flat on her back, the gold medal was gone. Sacramone knew it, crouching on the steps by the floor, her head buried in her hands, disbelief etched across her face. AP

I dont support any team, but I must say the quality of the chinesse team was better than the american team in gymnastics, those girls are crazy !!!!! one of them has been training since she was 3 , living in a different city and everything and one time she called her parents saying that she was done with gymnastics and her parents say no fucking way ! u stay there bitch ! :O I watch gymnastics everyday cuz I love it and seriously those girls are goooood !

I know she fell last night, but it was her execution after the falls that kept the team in contention for a medal at all. She could have fallen apart completely.

True. Faking their team member ages is just wrong. Of course no one can prove it, because their passports were issued by the government.
The Chinese team was so small that they could have tumbled for a half and hour and never reached the end of the mat.
Alcia tried to pull back to not reach the end of the mat and fell. She's not a small girl in the gymnastic world.

you people are insane. if you hate americans, why are you on an american site reading about american celebrities? oh yeah, because wherever you're from probably sucks major ass and you wish you lived here. i don't even fucking like gymnastics, it's not like i'm upset over losing. i just feel reallllly bad for those poor little chinese girls. that crazy country takes these kids when they're super young, away from school and family, and make gymnastics their whole lives. that's a lot of pressure for a child of 13. winning and losing isn't the issue, it's an issue of the child's well being and safety. obviously that's one thing your country (whichever it may be) and america don't have in common. we care a little bit more about human rights (*cough* darfur *cough*) than we do about winning a silly medal.

The gymnastic camps are extremely excruciating, however children do go at their own will rather than being kidnapped from some orphanage. These childrens' parents pay top dollar to get their children the best training.

I know right. They age really well. One of my friends was 29 and I thought she was 18-21. I was surprised when I found out her real age.

She's still a hottie. This team suffered early injuries and mishaps all along so by the time this team comp began they were hanging by a thread in hopes of the gold. Only one bad routine, one fall is all the error cushion they had. As for the teeny Chinese girls, a Communist nation that takes the kids away from home at age 3 to groom for success can do anything they want behind the bamboo curtain and never tell us the truth. If they have a 12 or 13 yr. old peaking in her event skills, strong in ratio to her weight and fearless,,,well they just redo her already falsified passport and make believe birth records and dare the FIG or Olympic officials to challenge their authenticity. Small young gymnasts fall with less force, are clueless thus fearless, and heal faster than an 'old' 19 or 21 yr. old who has had arthritis and bone spurs since age 16. North Korean gymnasts also cheated this way with a tiny underage girl many years ago.
This was all about winning for the glory of China in an effort to join the advancing 21st century world to convince us they are a world leader. Too bad it's all fake, a show, and after these games end, those who failed will disappear, the poor will remain poor, and anybody over here in US in their right mind would never consider going there for tourism.

As far as cheating...Well we are talking about one event here. China so far has faked fireworks, singing at the opening ceremony and now ages of their team members.
Also remember. The athletes that cheated got caught, lost their medals and even faced jail time. So they played against the rules and got caught.
Do you think China's team will ever face that kind of scrutiny? Probably not.
As I said before, I think Alicia has the heart of champ because after the mistake she pulled it together and finished her program without falling apart. Sacha Cohen did it to at the Winter Olympics.

That little whore cost us the medal. I don't think the Chinese were that small, Shawn Johnson is under 5', Alicia Sacramone is 5'1 and the Chinese girl all looked about 5' as well. Did anyone watch the coverage? Either way these poor Chinese girls. They are taken from their hometowns to train at 10 and only see their family once or twice a year. That's kind of wrong. Cheating or no cheating.
Plus calling someone that trained for half their life, a little whore, is totally wrong. She kept her composure and didn't launch into hysterics. She was a model team leader, and didn't bring the team down with her.
Sacramone is only on one individual event. The vault.

Wholly balanced lives? Of course not. Nor does any athlete for that matter. I did have to train to be a swimmer and was olympic class. It's really hard to have a normal life when you have to swim 500 laps every night.
Anyway....I agree with you on the "Eastern" European programs.
Good thing for Sacramone though. If she would have messed up that bad and been on team China, her and her family would probably be sent off to prison camp.

On the other point you made about the athletes. Worked up not in the least. Not even a lather. It's just messed up stuff to say and sometimes you have to own up to the things you say.
You are tossing a specific athlete into the gutter, but in essence you are saying that if you lose you gained nothing. These athletes gain structure and the most wonderful thing in the world.....The willness to try and reach for goals thought impossible for most.

I don't find her remotely attractive. Her neck is a little too thick & muscular and there's something about her demeanor that screams 'BITCH'. Not only that, did you see how ungracious she was to the Chinese team? All the other girls were very polite & gracious to the Chinese team and you could see in their faces that they were happy just to get the silver and even told the Chinese girls that they did good. Meanwhile, Sacramone's walking around with a "I just stepped in/smelled a huge pile of shit" look on her face, not even smiling when the Chinese were talking to her or trying to congratulate her. Heart of a champion, my ass. Kerri Strug, now she had the heart of a champion. Sacramone's pissed because she knows that after this, it's back to being a mediocre looking college student that probably works at Starbucks.
And what I find really funny is how everyone's crying foul about the ages of the girls on the other team. I hate to say it, but man up and admit that China had a way better team than us.

Actually it is pretty serious. Cease fire was declared, but no cease fire on the ground. It is basically ethnic cleansing and they are trying toppel a democratically elected government that also happens to pumps a million barrels of oil a day.
We can't speak much about genocide though....Considering our mass murder of men in Falluja.
